N = 1, D = 6 Supergravity: Duality and non Minimal Couplings.

چکیده
Six-dimensional supergravity theories and their duality properties play a central role in the context of string duality and string compactifications. Lowering dimensions leads usually to an increasing complexity of theories; with this respect six dimensions seem to constitute an appropriate compromise between the physical four and the presumably more fundamental ten or eleven dimensions. In this paper we present a superspace formulation of N = 1,D = 6 supergravity with one tensor-multiplet and an arbitrary number of vectorand hypermultiplets, in which the bosonic abelian superforms of the theory, the dilaton, the abelian gauge fields and the two-form are replaced by their S-duals i.e. four, three and two-superforms respectively, in compatibility with supersymmetry. As usual this replacement interchanges Bianchi identities with equations of motion. This formulation holds in the presence of one tensor multiplet and arbitrary numbers of hypermultiplets and abelian super-Maxwell multiplets if all couplings are minimal. We determine the consistency conditions for non-minimal couplings in N = 1, D = 6 supergravity, for which we present a particularly significant solution, namely the one associated with the Chern-Simons-Lorentz three-form which entails the Green-Schwarz anomaly cancellation mechanism. In the case of non minimal couplings it is found that the gauge fields and the two-form can still be dualized while the dilaton has to remain a zero-form. PACS: 04.65.+e;

We construct the AdS description of the Higgs branch of the finite N = 2 Sp(N) gauge theory with one antisymmetric hypermultiplet and four fundamental hypermultiplets. Holography, combined with the non-renormalization of the metric on the Higgs branch, leads to novel constraints on unknown terms in the non-abelian Dirac-Born-Infeld action. These terms include non-minimal couplings of D-branes t...

We review the current status of the construction of unitary representations of Uduality groups of supergravity theories in five, four and three dimensions. We focus mainly on the maximal N = 8 supergravity theories and on the N = 2 MaxwellEinstein supergravity (MESGT) theories defined by Jordan algebras of degree three in five dimensions and their descendants in four and three dimensions. متن کاملOn duality symmetries of supergravity invariants
The role of duality symmetries in the construction of counterterms for maximal supergravity theories is discussed in a field-theoretic context from different points of view. These are: dimensional reduction, the question of whether appropriate superspace measures exist and information about non-linear invariants that can be gleaned from linearised ones. The former allows us to prove that F-term...
متن کاملSelf-duality and Supersymmetry
Chiral/self-dual restrictions of various super Yang-Mills and supergravity theories in (2,2) dimensions are described. These include the N=1 supergravity with a cosmological term and the N=1 new minimal supergravity theory. In the latter case, a self-duality condition on a torsionful Riemann curvature is possible, and it implies the equations of motion that follow from an R 2 type supergravity ...

We revisit the singular IIB supergravity solution describing M fractional 3branes on the conifold [hep-th/0002159]. Its 5-form flux decreases, which we explain by showing that the relevantN = 1 SUSY SU(N+M)×SU(N) gauge theory undergoes repeated Seiberg-duality transformations in which N → N −M . Far in the IR the gauge theory confines; its chiral symmetry breaking removes the singularity of hep...
